Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef

  • 1 cup cooked brown rice

  • 1/2 cup diced carrots

  • 1/2 cup diced sweet potatoes

  • 1/2 cup green peas (fresh or frozen)

  • 1/4 cup chopped spinach (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or coconut oil)

  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric (optional, for anti-inflammatory benefits)

Directions

  • Cook the brown rice according to the package instructions and set it aside to cool.
  • Dice the carrots and sweet potatoes into small, dog-friendly pieces.
  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the diced carrots and sweet potatoes to the skillet with the cooked beef. Cook for about 10 minutes or until the vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the green peas and chopped spinach to the skillet.
  • Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the peas are heated through and the spinach is wilted.
  • Stir in the cooked brown rice until all the ingredients are well combined.
  • If using, sprinkle the turmeric over the mixture and stir well to incorporate.
  • Allow the mixture to cool completely before serving to your dog.
  • Portion out the appropriate serving size for your dog’s size, age, and activity level.
  • Store the leftover dog food in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • For longer storage, freeze individual portions and thaw as needed.
